The Echs Endowment Fund selects promising students that exhibit the willingness to make significant contributions to his or her community and to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. Selected students must be a US citizen and a graduating senior. The student must be accepted at an accredited University, College or Technical school prior to filing an application.
Award Determination
The amount of the scholarship awarded to each student is determined by the Echs Endowment Fund selection Committee. Scholarships will be based on merit and financial need. Scholarship awards from $500 up to $2,000 per year will be given. The award is renewed annually, for a maximum of four (4) years, as long as the student remains in good academic standing at the same institution, enrolled in a full-time, undergraduate degreed program or vocational study. Each year, the number of students selected to receive financial assistance will be based upon the funds available for distribution from investments or from funded scholarship donations. Selected students will receive $500 or $1000 Annually for four years, for a total amounting to $2000 or $4000. The Scholars may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college, university, vocational or technical school of their choice within the United States.
Application Timetable
Recipients will be selected in the spring prior to entering college. All applications will be screened during the month of March by the Echs Endowment Fund selection Committee. Finalist will be interviewed by the committee in April of each year. Scholarship winners will be selected on the basis of their applications, interviews and participation in selected group activities. Notification of selected scholars will be completed by May 30 of each year.
Selection Criteria
Academic achievement (grades and SAT scores)
Personal essay describing career goals, current and past relevant extracurricular activities, etc.,
Scholarship committee interview
Recommendations (teachers and guidance counselors),
Group activity results And financial need.
Applicants are first ranked based on consideration of items 1, 2, 3,4 and 5 above. If two (2) applicants are considered to be equal, the candidate with the greatest financial need is ranked higher.
Application Deadline
The Echs Endowment Fund will have two deadlines for applications (students must be current high school seniors at the time of their application):
January 1st -The application process will begin. The Scholarship committee will begin accepting and evaluating applications. April 15th - final postmarked deadline in order to be considered for the Echs Endowment Fund Scholarship.
Application materials must be mailed in one packet. Transcripts and letters of recommendation should not be sent under separate cover. Incomplete, e-mailed or faxed applications will not be considered. Winners of the scholarship will be notified by May 30 and names will be posted on the Echs Endowment Fund Web site. www.echsfund.com
Scholarship Conditions
The Echs Endowment Fund Inc. Scholarships are given to Graduating seniors that have been accepted in a postsecondary college or university or certain vocational or technical schools or colleges. Funds are to be used to cover the costs of tuition, fees, books, room and board, computers, health insurance, general living expenses and other college-related expenses.
